WILLOW DELL to RIVER ST/ BIG Y PARKING LOT
The modest modifications for the North Branch in the vicinity of Willow Dell and River Street in this option include creating a narrower but deeper channel in the chute floor. This would be augmented with natural materials such as low growing wetland plants. The first few feet of the flood wall would be pushed outward to create a terrace and slope to allow access to the
river in select places. The increased channel width would compensate for the lowered walls to maintain existing flood capacity. On the River Street side of the chutes, the terracing could take the form of a small amphitheatre wrapped by a long linear park easily accessible from the neighborhood.
