RIVER STREET/ BIG Y PARKING LOT

Here is a possible transformation from looming concrete walls to parklands including converting the Holden Street bridge to a pedestrian only passageway. The lowering of the flood chutes would result in a significantly wider river corridor. This option includes creating a narrower but deeper channel in the chute floor to consolidate the flow in the summer. This low flow channel would be augmented with natural materials so the river would not be passing over only concrete. The gentle slopes would be planted with grasses and landscaped to promote a safe and enjoyable walkway. This area could serve as a key section of the often suggested museum mile.
