Community Outreach

Since its inception in early 2008, the River Revival has met with hundreds of members of our community to share with them the history of the Hoosic River and the Coalition’s goal of modifying the flood chutes, and maintaining flood control.

In the summer of 2010 the Hoosic River Revival Coalition sponsored a “Community Conversation” in which the public was invited to share their vision for the future of the Hoosic River in downtown North Adams. Nearly one hundred city and area residents gathered for the day-long event to listen, share their opinions and offer suggestions on how to reconnect the community with its river. Residents were overwhelmingly in favor of a revitalized downtown North Adams and a vibrant, attractive river with public access and abundant wildlife, bordered by a corridor with greenways, outdoor art, and historical markers.

We intend to hold future public outreach events and we hope you will join us! In the meantime, please contact us your ideas/concerns/goals for the river.
