Hoosic River Restoration Studies

The following local river restoration studies were completed by both members of the Hoosic River Revival steering committee, students and other experts in the field of river restoration:

As a graduate student at Yale University, Dr. Elena Traister, now a professor at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, developed a proposal for restoring that section of the Hoosic that flows between MASS MoCA and River Street.

Four Williams College students spent a semester addressing the history/geography/economics/politics of restoring the River and came up with several recommendations.

Recently retired Professor of Architecture and current member of the Revival Steering Committee, Howard Itzkowitz analyzed the river by looking at the whole downtown area.

Jim MacBroom, Lecturer in River Restoration at Yale University and Principal in Milone & MacBroom, has prepared detailed structural and fluvial analysis of the 2.3 miles of the Hoosic flowing in flood chutes.
